The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.

Ervin was born on March 7, 1947, in Sherman, Texas to Virgil and Letha Sasser. He was raised in Sherman and attended Sherman schools, graduating from Sherman High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served until 1971. Ervin married Debbie Myers in 1969, and they began their life in Cherry Point, North Carolina. After Ervin’s military service, they returned to Sherman where he attended Grayson County College and earned a HVAC degree. He also followed in his father’s footsteps and worked as an auto mechanic at Gladden Motors, Grayson Motors, and Ramey Chevrolet. Ervin retired in 2007 due to his health and was able to care for his wife and his in-laws when it was needed most. Over the course of Ervin’s life he was most passionate about his family and his service to his country. When possible, he also loved going fishing, camping, and taking road trips. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie of 56 years; two daughters: Connie Hartwig (Lee), and Amy Sasser (Will); four grandchildren: Emily Strohecker (Kyle), Abby Hartwig (Kolton), Presley Gray and Cason Gray; and great grandson, Kash Gray.
