Obituary For Ethel Longhty
Ethel Louise Longhty, of Denison, was born January 8, 1938 in Muskogee, OK. She was the only child of William E. and Ethel Mae Griffith Longhty. She passed into the arms of her Lord on February 10, 2014. Louise graduated from Muskogee High School in 1956, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She received her associate’s degree in art appreciation from Muskogee Junior College. As a young woman, Louise worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. In 1967, Louise moved with her family to Denison and became the bookkeeper for L.O. Hammond’s Dads and Lads clothier. Louise worked for many years until she retired in 1977 and became a homemaker. Louise loved to travel. She often toured with family and groups to many countries, including the Bahamas, England, France, Egypt, Australia, Spain, Italy and Canada. She especially enjoyed Australia and Canada. Louise’s family was her whole life for many years and she never denied them anything. She always provided lots of fun and family vacations so they would have many memories. Louise was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for many years and enjoyed the projects and camaraderie with her sorority sisters. Louise began reading to the 4-year-olds of Kiddie Kampus when her youngest grandchild was in the class. She enjoyed it so much that she continued it on a weekly basis for ten years. Survivors include her daughter, Sally Millsap; grandchildren Matthew Preston, Erica Jill and Rachel Denise; and great-grandchildren Rayne, Dakota and Abigale. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Callie Nevada and Randall Wade, and her favorite aunt, Dorothy Mertz. At her request, private family services will be held at a later time. Louise will be missed!
Condolences
