Obituary For Ethel Mae Hohenberger

Ethel Mae Hohenberger, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas.

A visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am in the Dannel Funeral Chapel. A procession will follow to Van Alstyne Cemetery for interment.

Ethel Mae was born on December 31, 1940, in Gainesville, Texas, to Alvin James and Annie Jane (Garrett) Wilcox. On August 13, 1956, she married Richard Earl Hohenberger, in Gainesville, and together they shared 54 years of love, faith, and devotion to their family. She worked as a weaver for Burlington Industries for many years and was a proud member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas. Her faith and family were the foundations of her life, and she will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering love.

Ethel Mae is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Earl Hohenberger; daughters, Barbara Ann Chadwick and Peggy Ann Reed; her parents, Alvin and Annie; brothers, Mack, Carlos, David, and Raymond; and sister Mary Frances.

Ethel Mae is survived by her son, Ricky Hohenberger and wife Mary; four grandchildren, Angela Morgan and husband Scott, Kevin Hohenberger, Sid Halliday, and wife Lori, and Jason Hohenberger and wife Melissa; six great-grandchildren, Shelby, Travis and wife Anastasia, Jeremiah, Charlotte, Carter, and Averee; four great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Michael, Amelia, and Tommy; and her brother, Roy James Wilcox and wife Mary Helen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members who loved her dearly.

Pallbearers: Kevin Hohenberger, Jason Hohenberger, Travis Morgan, Alvin Ray Wilcox, Alan Wilcox, Adam Wilcox, Robert Cook, and DeWayne Cook.

Ethel Mae’s life was a blessing to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
