Obituary For Frances Mandeville

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:30am, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, for Frances Mandeville, 95, of Sherman who passed away at Traditions, Wednesday, December 13, 2017. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Dannel Funeral Home. Chaplain Dennis Noblett will officiate. Frances was born October 22, 1922 in Waynesboro, Georgia to Floyd and Carrie Daniel, the youngest of 9 children. She was raised in Waynesboro and then the family move d to Tennille, Georgia, where Frances would graduate high school and also meet the love of her life, James (Jim) B. Mandeville. Jim would join the United States Air Force and become a pilot. On April 18, 1944, on the day Lt. Mandeville earned his wings, he and Frances would become husband and wife. This prompted Jim's father to comment to his son, “You got your wings and got them clipped on the same day.” Frances and Jim would celebrate 61 years of marriage before he passed in January of 2006. Jim and Frances would live in many places, including Japan, Dominican Republic, Colorado, Arizona, and eventually settle in Texas where Jim would retire from the Air Force in 1970. While their travels took them to many foreign places, Frances would study different languages. She was a true Southern Belle from Georgia and carried with her a distinctive Georgia accent. Whether she was speaking a foreign language or English, her “Southern” accent was one of the many qualities that made her unique and very memorable to anyone fortunate enough to know her. Frances sincerely loved people and she loved life. She was one of a kind and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings. She is survived by her son James B. (Ben) Mandeville and his wife Judy, of Sherman and grandson Hunter Mandeville and wife Cassandra of Plano, and many nieces and nephews and friends. The family extends their deep heartfelt thanks to Traditions and staff, Home Hospice of Grayson County and staff, and Dr. Alan McBride and his staff for the loving care they have given Frances. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, First Baptist Church Ministry of Encouragement, or to Meals on Wheels. You may sign the online guestbook at www.Dannelfuneralhome.com.
