Obituary For Frances Morehead Brown

Frances Morehead Brown, 88, of Richardson, Texas, a former long-time Sherman resident, passed away on April 16, 2021. Frances was born on May 28, 1932, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to Emma and Robert W. Morehead, Sr. She was raised and attended schools in Texarkana, Texas, and graduated from Texas High in 1950. She attended college before beginning a career with the State of Texas Employment Agency. During this time she met her future husband, Paul Brown, on a blind date. They were married on May 8, 1955, in Texarkana and moved to Tyler before settling in Sherman in 1960, where Paul began his private law practice. Frances was very active in charitable and social civic organizations her entire life. She was a member and elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman. An accomplished bridge player, she valued the many friends and acquaintances she made through her regular card games. Above all else in life Frances loved and cherished her family, and she took great pride in Judge Brown’s recognition and accomplishments throughout his career as a lawyer and a judge. She loved to travel, enjoyed entertaining, was a great cook, and liked to place the occasional wager at the horse track. Frances carried herself with dignity and grace, and she will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and wonderful friend by all who knew her.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Judge Paul Brown, a sister, Emma Jean Sutton, and a brother, Robert W. Morehead, Jr. She is survived by her sons: Greg Brown and wife Beth of Richardson, and David Brown and wife Kendall of Dallas; also grandsons: Hunter Brown and wife Amberle of Oxford, England, Jackson and Garrett Brown of Dallas; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family of Frances Brown wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Drs. Paul Anderson, Michael Benson, Mohamad Samiudden and their staff for their excellent care and compassion. The family would also like to express thanks and gratitude to caregivers Judy Mulumba and Brigitah Kalawa.

A Witness to the Resurrection Service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Reverend Lisa Perkins of Covenant Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will precede the memorial service at 10:00 AM at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Brown, Bruce Hudgins, Jack Kaufman, Dave Maxwell, Amos Mazzant, and Andy Olmstead.

For those that will be unable to attend, Frances’ service will be livestreamed through Covenant Presbyterian Facebook page.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Judge Paul Brown Endowed Scholarship at The University of Texas Law School Foundation, 727 E. Dean Keeton St., Austin, TX 78705 or Home Hospice of Grayson County.
