Freda was a hard working independent woman who strived with her husband to make a better life for themselves and their family in the heart of the Great Depression. In early childhood, she worked on the family farm and dairy assisting her Mother and Sisters delivering milk, and butter as they earned a meager wage to make ends meet. Freda graduated from Sherman High School in 1941 and left for Dallas with her sister Eunice to attend business school at Draughans Business Collage where she learned bookkeeping. Afterword she went to work at Interstate Oil Co. (Mrs. Tuckers) but soon followed her husband when his trade in military and civilian clothing manufacturing took them to Oklahoma City, OK during WWII. From Oklahoma to South Georgia in 1949, back to Oklahoma City and on to Ponca City, OK where she worked at various companies as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant. Then a move to Paris, Texas where Freda retired from Macky and Pierson Insurance Agency in the 1980’s. There was a period of time during these years she took a break and fulfilled her greatest position as a Mother and loving wife. In 1993 Freda and her husband J.D. moved back to their home town of Sherman to be close to family. She loved her family and over the years compiled family history and pictures. She also loved to read her Bible and teach Sunday school which she did over the years at each location they lived. Her favorite thing of all was to play the piano and always wanted to stop and teach anyone who was interested how to play. Freda married J.D. LaFoy on her 20 th birthday December 22, 1943 in Sherman and they were together for 63 years. They met while attending a government business school held at the Grayson County Courthouse taught by Freda’s former 2 nd grade teacher from the old 2 room Fairview school. J.D. waited patiently for Freda to graduate from Sherman High School and Draughans Business College before they were married. Freda was a woman of strong moral character and had a deep love her Savior Jesus Christ and for all people young or old. Freda was a member and Sunday School Teacher at West Sherman Baptist church. Freda had two wonderful sons who learned much from her way of life and character. The eldest son John David LaFoy preceded her in death December 1, 2005. She is survived by her youngest son Dale Anthony LaFoy and wife Janet, two grandsons Dillon LaFoy and Wife Kaylie, Christian Burdette, 3 Granddaughters Desiree Adams and her husband Jeff, Liana LaFoy, and Franki Van Lydegraf and her husband Jason, three great granddaughters Lindzee Adams, Annabelle, and Allie Van Lydegraf, three great grandsons Nathan Adams, Talan and Slaton LaFoy and numerous nieces and nephews. Freda will be missed by all who knew and loved her, and yet we rejoice in her going home to be with the Lord. The family suggests memorials be sent to: Home Hospice of Grayson County
