Obituary For Gary Donald Noyes

Services for Gary Donald Noyes, 76, of Pottsboro, will be held on Thursday, May 16, at Dannel Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery and the United States Navy will accord military honors. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, May 15, at Dannel Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Gary was born to Donald and Vera Noyes on July 19, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Minneapolis and upon graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy. Gary served on an aircraft carrier that was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis that lasted 12 days in October of 1962. After leaving the Navy, Gary went back to Minnesota and met the mother of his children, Kathy, and had a son, Shane, and a daughter, Heather. He had started his own electrical company and this led him to move to Illinois. Then, one fateful day, he met the love of his life, Tammy at Lake Koshkonong in Wisconsin where she was on vacation with her family. They would eventually marry and spend the next 33 years together. They celebrated their 33rd anniversary on the 3rd of May. Their lives took them to many places and they shared many adventures. One adventure was living on a Chris Craft Cruiser moored in the Chesapeake Bay for 2 years. They loved camping together and eventually moved down to Lake Texoma to enjoy the water and the land.

Gary had many interests in his life. He played hockey as a young man and for a time had aspirations of playing professionally. He was talented at working on street rods. One time he was driving in a 1932 Ford that he had modified and was moving at 140 MPH when he was pulled over by the police. He didn’t receive a citation because the police were more interested in the car that he had built and even called in extra units to see Gary’s work. Gary and his son, Shane, restored boats, including the one they lived on in the Chesapeake Bay. Gary loved to laugh and tell stories and he adored his family. He would do anything for anybody and everyone who knows him will miss him greatly.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, a son Troy, a brother John Noyes and a sister Linda Louise. He is survived by his wife, Tammy, son; Shane Noyes of Rising Sun, Maryland; daughter: Heather Spaeth of Elkton, Maryland; sisters: Barbara Ring of Minnesota, Sharon Navin of Florida, Diane Niford of Florida, and Pamela Noyes of California; 5 grandchildren: Riley, Taylor, Cameron, Carley, and Chase; many nieces and nephews and friends.

So sorry for your loss Tammy! I remember in the very old days Gary, my Dad and others would play snooker in the north garage in Faribault. I think as a kid I had a big crush on him. Take care! Deb Cornell
