Obituary For Gary Melton

Gary Melton,74, of Sherman, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, Texas with Rev. Leland Samuelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon October 23, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas. Mr. Melton was born July 21, 1942 in Dallas, Texas the son of Martha Glover Melton and Jesse Melton. He was a graduate of W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Texas. He was a Salesman for Baker Wholesale in Sherman for more than 10 years selling Candy and Tobacco products. When his grandparents needed care and assistance as they grew older, he took care of them. He was a Nurse's Aide and worked in several nursing facilities in the area. He was not in the military but had a very special place in his heart for those who have served our Great Country. His son proudly served in the military and is now a disabled veteran. He was so proud to be able to support the many Veterans Organizations among those being the World War II Museum and several other war memorials. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jerry Melton. He is survived by his sons, Todd Melton and wife Donna of Canton, TX, and Jamie Melton and wife Angel of Garland, TX; brothers, David Melton of Crandall, TX and Danny Melton and wife Sandra of Sherman, TX; sister, Gaye Lowrance and husband Jimmy of Garland, TX; Grandchildren, Mason Melton and Kaylin Melton; and very Special Friend, Linda Johnson of Bonham, TX. One of his favorite sayings "Live Long and Prosper". Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.
