Obituary For Gene Andrew Omundson

Gene Andrew Omundson of Denison, Texas passed away on the morning of May 8th, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Estherville, Iowa, on April 28th, 1948. He was seventy-three years old. He will be buried at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors on Thursday, May 13th, at 1:30 p.m.

At age 18, Gene joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was in the service for six years. On November 5th, 1999, he married Jenny Ann Pack.

Gene had a career in Law Enforcement for 28 years. He guarded Queen Elizabeth when she came to America. After he retired from being the Chief of Police in Barnstead, New Hampshire, he moved to Texas.

Preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Beverly Omundson of Estherville, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Jenny Ann Pack-Omundson; his daughter Kassey (Omundson) O’Sullivan and husband Robert of Manchester, New Hampshire; son Kevin Omundson and wife Lynn of Epsom, New Hampshire; and two bonus children: Jonathon Pollock of Meredosia, Illinois and Jordan Ann Renshaw of Denison, Texas. He had seven grandchildren: James and Adam Omundson, Jaden Renshaw, Kieran Barnum, Dylan O’Sullivan, and Atom and Peyton Pollock.

Additional survivors are two sisters: Linda Voster and husband Dean of Mondamin, Iowa, and Vickie Howard and husband Ron of Johnston, Iowa; and four brothers: Mike Omundson and wife Cheryl of Altoona, Iowa, Rod Omundson and wife Mary of Denison Texas, Kenneth Omundson and wife Teri of Melba, Idaho, and Brian Omundson and wife Linda of Loveland, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gene was an animal person; he fed all the feral cats in the neighborhood and he loved our four Australian Shepherds, especially “Jace”.

Gene had the bluest eyes, the color of a beautiful Texas summer sky. He was a man's man; he was a hero to many he was especially a hero to me. He saved me from myself.
