Obituaries

George Terry Johnston, 75, of Sherman, passed away on July 11, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright with Pastor Steve Rice officiating. The family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Terry was born on April 20, 1948 to George and Nancy Johnston. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1966. Terry then proudly served two years in the United States Army. He worked as an art and frame salesman for the Picture Source showroom at the World Trade Center in Dallas for many years. Terry was a high spirited, humorous man who brought joy and laughter to those around him. He lived a carefree lifestyle where it was ok to have ice cream for lunch. Terry’s unmistakable laugh and exaggerated expressions would liven up a room and put a smile on your face. He always had a good story to tell and enjoyed golfing in his free time.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Johnston. He is survived by his brother Tim Johnston; niece Terri (Nicole) Barnes and husband Steven; niece Tara Johnston; and great niece Deven Barnes.
