Obituary For Gerald "Jerry" Lee Broderick

Gerald "Jerry" Lee Broderick, 78, of Denison died Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

In accordance with Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred next to his parents. A memorial service will follow in late fall 2026 at Meadowbrook Memorial Park in Paris, TX. Arrangements through Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, TX.

Jerry was born March 2, 1948, in Newark, NJ, to Michael Byno Broderick (1905-1971) and Sarah Margaret Broderick, née Bolton (1918-2001). He went to Essex County Vocational and Technical High School (Class of '66) in Bloomfield, NJ. He later attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, before joining the U.S. Army from 1972 - 1977. After his military service, Jerry worked as a biomedical equipment repair technician for the Lyons VA Medical Center in Lyons, NJ. Years later he moved to Denison, TX, to be closer to his mother. Jerry continued his biomedical work at the original Texoma Medical Center located in northern Denison until he retired.

Throughout his life, Jerry preferred to be outdoors rather than indoors. Whether he was skiing in the northeast, riding his motorcycles around town, taking road trips across the country, or just taking the long way home, Jerry made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His witty sense of humor combined with his caring nature, created a ripple effect that will certainly be missed.

Surviving are his daughter, Tara Broderick of Hopewell, NJ; his ex-wife, Maria Cook, née Kutzkir; and his lifelong friends Jim Trotta, Cindy Eisenstein, and Wendy and Mike Beasley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels, or the National Audubon Society.

Condolences

  • March 30, 2026

Our condolences to Tara and family. Jerry has been a good friend and neighbor for many years. We shared many holidays including 4rth of July fireworks in the neighborhood. He and Mike talked "motorcycles" and he even bought Mike's bike when it was time for Mike to give it up. I'm sure he's taking the scenic route all the way to heaven... Rest In Peace friend. Mike and Wendy Beasley
