Obituary For Geraldine Bostwick

Geraldine (Jerri) Virginia Bostwick passed away Saturday, February 20th, at the age of 97. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Sherman, Texas on Saturday February 27th at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at the West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home Friday, February 26th from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Geraldine was born October 18, 1918 in Honey Grove, Texas to James M. Reece and Lovie Dawson Reece. She graduated from Ladonia High School in 1937 and married Earl Bostwick, her grade school sweetheart, February 24, 1940. Mr. Bostwick passed away February 22, 1988. They lived in Pecan Gap and San Angelo, Texas before moving to Sherman in 1952. Jerri was a stay at home Mom until her sons were in Jr. High when she began working at Washington Elementary Cafeteria. She then worked at the Sherman Democrat in the classified section. She retired after 26 years in December, 1984. Jerri was actively involved with her family, church and community. She was a member of First Baptist Church; active in Sunday School, a Sunday School Teacher, WMU, Triple L, a past Matron of Carpenters Chapter #1830ES, former member of Wilson N. Jones Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and several clubs. She loved to travel and was able to enjoy many trips. In addition to trips with friends she delighted in being able to travel with her many sisters on several "Sister Retreats". She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Bostwick of Sherman, Texas and Ron Bostwick and wife Martha of Denison, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff Bostwick of Milton, Florida, Mary Yetta and Alan McKelva of Gunter, Texas, Julie and Anthony Spano of Shreveport, Louisiana, Walter and Ashley Wilhelmi of Tyler, Texas and Leslie and Reinhard Lange of Paris, Texas. Great grandchildren, William and Melissa Wilhelmi of Hurst, Reece and Dondi McKelva of Aubrey, Texas, Patrick and Lauren Crawford of Midland, Texas, Eric and Nicole Lange of Allen, Texas, Lindsey and Randy Martin of Saginaw, Texas, Michael and Jennifer McKelva of Edinberg, Texas, Riley Wilhelmi of Tyler, Texas, Christopher Wilhelmi of Tyler, Texas, Madison and Taylor Stanley of College Station, Texas, Christian Spano of Shreveport, Louisiana, Conner Spano of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Samantha Bostwick of San Antonio, Texas and eleven great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Bob Reece of Dallas, Texas, David and Charlene Reece of Honey Grove, Texas, four sisters, Bertha Jane Pritchett of Aledo, Texas, Glenda and Jimmy Milton of Bells, Texas, Doris and Bobby Horton of Roxton, Texas, Helen and Bill Wishard of North Richland Hills, Texas and a loving group of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers, J.I., John, Joe, Sam and Tom Reece; a sister, Elizabeth Richardson and grandsons Fred Wilhelmi and Michael Locke. Pallbearers will be her Great Grandsons, William Wilhelmi, Reece McKelva, Christian Spano, Conner Spano, Christopher Wilhelmi, and Eric Lange. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandson, Jeff Bostwick and Great Grandson, Michael McKelva. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church - Preserving the Legacy Fund 400 S. I worked with Jerri at the Herald Democrat for 9 years and she was the sweetest and kindest person I ever worked with. You always knew she was a wonderful Christian lady.
