Obituary For Gideon "Evan" Olsen

Gideon “Evan” Olsen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully
passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home in Bonham, TX,
after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born June 29, 1954, in Logan,
Utah. He was the seventh of seven sons born to Frank Price Olsen and Alice
Louise Newbrand Olsen. He was raised in Paradise, Utah, and grew up on
the family farm. He attended schools in Paradise, Hyrum, and Smithfield,
Utah, and graduated from Skyview High School in Smithfield, Utah.
He married his dear wife, Diana Lynne Charlton, on March 13, 2004 in
Evanston, WY, and solemnized their marriage in the Logan LDS Temple.
Evan loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing from a young age.
He enjoyed numerous elk and deer hunts with his brothers and nephews. He
loved singing, bird watching, and was an avid gardener. He was a member
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various
callings. He loved sharing his beliefs and knowledge of church history.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Dale Brent Olsen and
Randy Elliott Olsen; and stepdaughter, Leanna Weber. He is survived by his
wife of 20 years, Diana Lynne Charlton; his son, Wesley Olsen of Pocatello,
ID; step-children, Lindsey (Lane) Bowen of Evanston WY, and Matthew
(Stephanie) Weber of Collinsville OK; eight grandchildren and one great
granddaughter. He is also survived by his siblings: Dallas (Carliss) Olsen,
Clair (Karen) Olsen, Curtis (Jan) Olsen, and Phil (Teresa) Olsen.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, located at 1540 Hwy 78 South, Bonham,
Texas. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at the same location
prior to the services from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Internment will be November
23, 2024, in Paradise, Utah.
