Obituary For Gisela Regina Leard

A Mass of the Christian Burial for Gisela Leard, 94, of Sherman will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sherman, Texas. Father Esteban Antes will celebrate the Mass. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 6:00PM at Dannel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM after the rosary. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Gisela was born July 13, 1927 in Saarbrucken, Germany to Wilhelm and Maria Henseler. She was raised in Germany and attended schools there as well. She attended and graduated from the Kaiserslautern School of Business and then she met her husband while working as a translator for the US Military Police. She married Benjamin “Benny” Leard in 1953. They moved to America when Benny’s tour of duty ended and settled in Georgetown, Maryland, where she worked as a secretary at Georgetown University. Following other military assignments and his retirement in July 1969, the family settled in Sherman, Texas. Gisela worked at several local businesses including the Boy Scout Office, Taylor Lincoln Mercury, and Don Davis Realty, as a bookkeeper.

Gisela loved classical music, convertible sports cars, and her church but not necessarily in that order. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her 4 children and 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters: Hildegard and Marga, and brother Josef.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

You may sign the online guestbook at www.Dannelfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Leard often let me share Christmas dinner with the family. Those memories will live on. My heart goes out to Pat and the other family members. Tony Stephens
