Obituary For Glen Armstrong

Glen Preston Armstrong, of Sherman, Texas, husband of his beloved wife, BeBe, left this earth to be at home with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Denison, Texas. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. All are invited to come and join in this memorial service. Born June 10, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of Effie Henderson Armstrong and Angus Armstrong. He married Martha Grumbles in Houston, Texas on August 19, 1949. After Martha’s death in 1965, Glen married BeBe Daves on August 7, 1967. He was an electrical engineer and worked for Anderson Clayton Foods, rising to the position of plant engineer, where he was always known for his integrity and professional work ethic. He was a veteran of WWII and played baritone horn in the U.S. Army band. An accomplished musician, he sang in many choirs including Key Memorial United Methodist Church and The Villager’s Chorale in Sherman. Glen is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Martha, son-in-law, John Johnson, and grandson, Noah Thompson Baird. Glen is survived by his wife, BeBe Armstrong, his children Ruth Johnson, Don Armstrong and his wife Suzi, Mark Armstrong and his wife, Kerry, Shann Schubert and her husband, Darrah Dunn, Steve Armstrong and his wife, Deborah, and Tobi Benton and her husband, Kenneth. His is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses: Jenny, Beth; Allie, Mattie, Kenzie; Andrew, Danielle, Brittani, Brooke, Lori, Ashley; Tobin, Devon, Anabelle, Addi Jo, Alex; Katie, Abby, Macy; Emily, Thomas, Ben, and Sam, and by his great-grandchildren Zeke, Maddie, Francesca, Zela; Elissa; Evelyn; Liam; Chloe, Liam; and Ayvion. Always generous of spirit, and eternally optimistic, Glen lived his life demonstrating the love he felt for everyone. His passing leaves an ache in the hearts of those left on this plane, but oh, how the choirs of heaven are rejoicing to welcome home this good and faithful servant. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

    So very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working both for Glen and with him at Anderson Clayton in Jacksonville, IL. He was a marvel to me. He would come visit the plant, and he'd sit down with us in maintenance. The topic didn't matter. Whatever came up, he'd stop us. "Just a minute" he'd say, raising his index finger to emphasize the point. Then he reach over to his briefcase and pull out the pertinent file. He never failed to be prepared. I shall miss him.
