Obituaries

Gwen Grant age 92 passed away on June 28th, 2024. She was born September 15th, 1931 in Canada to Victor and Johanna Fredrickson, educated and worked in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1952 she married Dr. Harold Grant also of Winnipeg. Their children are Elaine Schall (Steve) of Fort Collins, Colorado; Robert Grant of Austin, Texas; and Bruce Grant (Lesa) of Highland Village, Texas. Two grandchildren Patrick and Emily and one great grandchild Levi. Gwen is also survived by her beloved cousin Lorne (Donna) Anderson of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.

Gwen was particularly interested in the arts and participated in several organizations during her life in Winnipeg. Music was very important to her and sang with the Philharmonic Choir and the chorus of the Winnipeg Opera. Gwen was on the board of the Red River Exhibition and the Manitoba Theater Center for several years. In 1977 the Family moved to Sherman, Texas where her husband practiced medicine until his death in 1997. Gwen was a member of the Sherman Service League, a charter member of Chapter F.I. PEO, Sherman Musical Arts, Choir and past board member of the Sherman Community Players. She was past President of the Sherman Musical Arts Guild, Junior Shakespeare Club, Mary Brown Paul book club, and Tuesday Study Club. Her hobby was travel and she enjoyed seeing many parts of the world along with her good friends.

She was pre-deceased and death by her mother, father, brother Baldwin, granddaughter Sarah, and her best friend and husband Harold.

Honoring Gwen‘s wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private interment will take place at West Hill cemetery.
