Obituary For Harold Dodson

Send Flowers Harold Ray Dodson, 90, lifelong resident of Grayson County, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Wesley Village of Denison, Texas. Mr. Dodson was born October 12, 1926, in Whitewright, Texas the son of Laura Ellen Burk Dodson & Jess Ray Dodson. He graduated from Tom Bean High School. He proudly serviced his country and joined the United State Navy on his 17th birthday in 1944 and served until 1946. He served in the Aviation Ordnance division of the Navy. On March 8, 1947 he married Mary Lorelle Olds at the Key Memorial Methodist Church Parsonage in Sherman, Texas. He retired after 39 years with Quaker Oats Company and Continental Grain Company in Sherman. Mr. Dodson also was a Flight Instructor and crop duster. He was a member of the Toast Master organization and was an n excellent story teller. He was also a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church of Sherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter - in- law Debra Dodson. Surviving are his son Keith Dodson of Carrollton, TX, and Michael Dodson and wife Linda of Colorado; 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great- Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter. A Celebration of life will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Friendship United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas officiated by Rev. Roy Sporer, retired Methodist Minister. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Dannel Funeral Home. The family request donations be made in his memory to Friendship Methodist Church, 293 Friendship Road, Sherman, TX 75092; Grand Central Station, 921 E. Houston, Sherman, TX 75090 please note in the memo section of the check "Greenhouse Ministries"; or Wesley Village Retirement Center, 2800 Loy Lake Road, Denison, TX 75020.
