Harold Ponder of Sherman Texas passed away October 30 2012 at his daughter-in-law"s home in Denton TX after a brief illness. Services were held at First Baptist Church in Sherman on Saturday Nov. 3 2012 at 10:00 with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Pallbearers were grandson Thomas Coady Samuel Coady robert Coady and Mason Ponder. Private interment will be at Holloway Cemetery in Luella TX. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Harold was born on February 20 1937 to Hugh Arnold Ponder and Maudie Leo Cox Ponder in Sherman TX. He grew up on the Ponder family farm in Sherman. The original farmhouse was built in 1893. The property was purchased by Harold"s grandfather C.A. Ponder in 1906. Harold loved the legacy and land of his family and worked hard to preserve it. Harold graduated from Sherman High School in 1955 and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from North Texas State University. After a career in finance in Houston and Dallas he returned to live at the Sherman farm in 1985. He was also a self employed general contractor. He is preceded in death by his mother Maudie Leo Cox Ponder and father Hugh Arnold Ponder. He is survived by his son David and wife Laurie of Carrollton daughter Julie Coady and husband David of Denton step-daughter Kimberly Palmer and husband Blake of Little Rock AR grandsons, Tom Sam and Rob Coady and Mason Ponder granddaughter Kendall Ponder brother Norman of Sherman nieces, Nancy MacAskill and husband Tom of Plano Susan Reddy and husband Shidhar of Allen and Karen Ponder of Delray Beach FL.
