Herman Lee Layne, Jr., 86, of Dallas, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3rd in West Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Leland Samuelson officiating. Herman was born April 30, 1927, in Sherman, to Herman Lee, Sr. and Louise Miller Layne. He was a 1945 graduate of Sherman High School. He served his country in the US Merchant Marines from 1945-1950. Afterward he was employed by the Dallas ISD as a bookkeeper for a number of years. Preceded in death by his parents, Herman is survived by his son, Ronald Lee Layne of Denison, TX; one sister, Betty Musal of Sherman, TX; one granddaughter and two nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
