Obituaries

Services for Imogene “Gene” Rae Owen, 93, of Sherman, will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Welton Stoker of Parkview Church of Christ will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Gene was born on August 16, 1929, to Lilburn and Lula Cook. She was raised in Denison and attended Denison schools. On May 18, 1946, she married Dewey Owen in Denison. Gene worked at Whopper Stopper and then at Texas Instruments until she retired.

Gene was active with volunteer work at many organizations including The Crisis Center in Sherman, and the Fred Douglas School where she was a surrogate grandmother to many children. She had a giving and loving heart and she loved to laugh. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and most recently attended Parkview Church of Christ in Sherman. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Gene was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Owen, her parents, and her daughter, Carolyn Owen Bell. She is survived by her grandson, Frankie Jones, and great grandson Jake Jones.
