Obituaries

Inge Hellenthal Short, 82, of Sherman, passed away Sunday, May 4th at Lighthouse Residential Living. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9th in Dannel Funeral Chapel. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate. Interment will follow immediately afterward in West Hill Cemetery. Inge was born 1/2/1932 and was raised in Germany. On October 4, 1963 she married an attractive man in the U.S. Army, Jack Short, in Mainz-Gonsenheim, Germany. They moved to the United States and in 1972 they settled in Sherman, Texas, where they would remain for the rest of their lives. Although Inge and Jack never had children of their own, their home was always open to the children in the neighborhood who gladly played in their pool. Inge was preceded in death by “my Jack” as she lovingly called him, when cancer took him in 1987. For the last few months of her life, Inge lived with and was under the loving care of Robert and Ruth Smith of Lighthouse. Special thanks also to Angie McLean who was Inge’s nurse for many years and to Hospice Plus for their care in her peaceful passing.
