Iona ‘Billie’ Price, 93, of Sherman, passed away early Monday morning, December 16, 2013, at her residence. The family will receive friends at Dannel Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, December 17, 2013. A Celebration of Billie’s life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Christian Life Church in Sherman, officiated by Pastor Don Woods, of Christian Life Sherman and Pastor Lucas McManus, of Living Word Church in Greenville. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery immediately afterward. Billie was born February 28, 1920, in Ladonia, TX, to John Henry Hornsby and Nannie Mae Maples Hornsby. She attended Bartly Woods School in Hunt County. She married Don Price in 1952. They were married for 65 years before his death in 2012. Billie thoroughly enjoyed travelling, but was most content in her role as homemaker. She was especially excited to prepare meals for family and friends. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength, and was an ardent worshiper in the United Pentecostal Church for many years. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don and six siblings: Ruby Fields, Lena Hannah, Carrie Richardson, Marie Humphries, Delbert Hornsby and Lee Hornsby. She is survived by her children: Larry Payne and wife Verona of Santa Fe, TX., Ann Spencer of Sherman, and Sue McBride of Houston, TX; one sister, Mildred Wester of Sherman. Also left to celebrate her memory are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Serving Mrs. Price as pallbearers are: Bobby Price, Jerry Price, Paul Price, John Fields, Jim Hannah and Randy Atking. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Christian Life Church, 2005 S. Dewey in Sherman, TX (75090), or to the donor’s charity of choice.
