Obituaries

Services for Jackie Don Moss, 87, of Sherman, will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman at 9:00 AM. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate. Interment will follow at Akers Cemetery in Sherman. The family will greet friends on Friday, July 11, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Jack will be Ronald Bassermann, Vernon Ritchey, Joe Foust, Jason Moss, Joshua Houser, and Chad McGehee. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason Bassermann.

Jack was born in Merit, Texas, on December 12, 1937 to L.F. and Rosie Moss. He was raised all over North Texas because his family was in the cotton farming business. Jack met the love of his life, Montressa Harrott and they married in 1956. The family settled in Sherman in 1972 with their three children, Jackie, Donetta, and Troy. Jack was an electrician by trade and worked for Sherman Wire for 33 years. He raised livestock in his later years.

Jack could fix anything with bailing wire and duct tape. He was a dedicated employee at every job he ever worked. He was the patriarch of his family and the kids and grandkids learned by watching Jack work. He will be greatly missed.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Montressa, his parents, 3 sisters, Joann Briggs, Iva Nell Thomason, and Carolyn Heath, also brother Ronnie Moss, grandson Joshua and granddaughter Trinket. He is survived by his children; Jackie G. Moss and wife Janet of Sadler, Donetta Buck and husband Charles of Sherman, and Troy Moss and Jennifer Moss of Sherman: 6 grandchildren; Kristi Foust, Amy Houser, Amanda Atkins, Taryn Blackwell, Tori Moss, and Taylee Moss; 7 great grandchildren: Ethan, Eli, Daniel, Dylan, Tatum, Kinzee, and Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
