Obituary For Jack Pfeiffer
Jack A. Pfeiffer, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1515 North Travis Street in Sherman, Texas. Rev. Craig Sturm will officiate and Rev. William B. Johnson will serve as the Lector. Sharon Krenek will be the soloist and she will be accompanied by Dr. Barbara Case. A graveside inurnment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California will be held at a later date. Jack was born December 31, 1926 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to the late Margaret and Wilhelm Pfeiffer. He graduated from Madison East School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Army in March 1945 and spent two years in the Philippines. He was hired by Oscar Mayer Foods in Madison, Wisconsin, transferred to Los Angeles, California in 1957 where he was promoted to Production Manager, and transferred to Sherman in 1976 for the startup of the new plant. He retired in 1992 with forty-four years of service. Jack attended UCLA and USC while in California. He received his B.S degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1979. Jack married Laureen Joan (Rodtheut) Clarke in 1974 and raised her son, Lane, and daughter, Laurie. Jack and Laureen celebrated 42 years of marriage and enjoyed each day they had together. Jack enjoyed flying. He earned his pilot’s license and owned his own plane in California. He loved to hunt especially deer and geese. He was a long-time member of Woodlawn County Club, and he enjoyed bowling and his bridge group. Jack served on the board for the start-up of Junior Achievement in Sherman. He was also involved in United Way for many years. Jack has served on Trinity Lutheran Church Council in many capacities. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Laureen Pfeiffer of Sherman; two sons, Jack Pfeiffer of La Habra, California, Lane Clarke of Sherman, Texas and two daughters, Sarah (Pfeiffer) and her husband, Jerry Lambert of Buena Park, California and Laurie (Pfeiffer) and her husband, Mark Mullens of Denton, Texas. He is also survived by his sister, Esther Vergeront of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, and brother, Ralph Pfeiffer of Madison, Wisconsin and eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Pfeiffer) and her husband, Steve Chute, Nick Pfeiffer and his wife Jeanna, Jason Lambert and his wife, Sarah, Scott Lambert and his wife, Keri all of California and Dustin Clarke, Ashley (Clarke) and her husband, Kiel Cathey, Kristen (Clarke) and her husband, Tyler Fontaine and Josh Clarke and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Wilhelm Pfeiffer, sisters, Marge Castillo and Norma Hansen of Madison, Wisconsin. Jack was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. He was a gentle soul who always thought the best of everyone. He loved with his whole heart. Throughout his life Jack had a reputation as a man of integrity, fairness and honesty. Jack was also known for his hugs and his sweet tooth. He always practiced what he believed … forgive and forget, just as through Christ, God forgave us. He will be missed by many and his memory will live on in the lives of all who loved him. The family would like to thank Dr. Benson, WNJ Hospital and THCC staff for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1515 North Travis Street, Sherman, Texas, 75092. Local arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
