Obituary For Jack Rogers Orr

Jack Rogers Orr, 84, of Howe, Tx, passed away in his home on March 9th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Jack was born in Dallas, Tx on July 19, 1941. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1960, and was an avid athlete and sports fan, particularly track and field, golf and football. In high school Jack ran the hurdles and did the long jump, putting his long legs to good use. After high school he journeyed to Texas Tech to become a Red Raider. While his time there was cut short due to financial responsibilities, he always loved supporting his team throughout his life. In his youth he was a fan of musical artists like Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry. Later in life, he grew a love of classical music, which he instilled in his daughters.

He was married to Cloretta Ann Orr on July 17, 1978, and they had two daughters. They moved to Howe, Texas in 1979 where they raised their children. Jack was a supportive and giving man, who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He worked for 58 years as a draftsman, with dedication and commitment to his family and employers. Jack worked at Ingersoll Rand in Garland, Terex Reedrill in Denison and Progress Rail in Sherman. He also owned Legacy Flowers in Sherman with his wife Ann for a number of years. At the age of 78 he finally decided to retire to his armchair and enjoy reading his books. Jack was an avid reader enjoying books and magazines about history, science and archeology. Jack was a faithful subscriber to National Geographic, of which he began his subscription in the 1970s and continues today.

He is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Noel Orr and Heather Oetker and husband Jeremy, grandchildren, Axton Grams Jr and Jack Ryder Bregenzer and niece, Melissa Randolph.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Hannah Rachel Orr, wife Cloretta Ann Orr, brother Douglas Orr, and sister Dolores Randolph.
