Obituary For James Davis

James Lee Davis passed away October 11 2011 at his residence. Graveside services for Mr. Davis will be held on Saturday October 15th at 10 a.m. in Hall Cemetery Howe Texas. Jimmy Finney of Howe will officiate. Visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Friday Oct. 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. James Lee Davis was born March 10 1927 to Lee Davis and Bess (Hyleman)Davis in Elmont Texas. He graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1944. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948. He was awarded Victory Medal The American Campaign Medal and an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal while serving. On July 1 1950 he married Charlsie Mae Tolbert and together they had three children. He was a devoted husband and father. They had 60 wonderful years together before Charlsie passed away in 2009. Mr. Davis worked at the Howe Post Office for many years serving as Postmaster. He had a 38 year career total in Civil Service before retirement. He was also a member of the American Legion #376 and served on the National Safety Committee for Civil Service. He was a special friend of Congressman Ray Roberts. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlsie and his parents. Mr. Davis is survived by three children son Ronny Davis and Tammy Weaver son Mike Davis all of Howe, daughter Sherri Ballinger and husband Terry of Elizabethtown KY. He also has six grandchildren, Jared Davis Jesica Davis John Davis Jacob Davis Sara Bailey and Lauren Bailey. Mr.Davis has 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers: Jesse Mack Davis and wife Shirley of Howe and Bill Davis and wife Barbara of Van Alstyne. Pallbearers are: Michael Bailey Jimmy finney Jason Casada and grandsons: Jared Davis John Davis and Jacob Davis. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer""s Association of Greater Dallas 7610 N.
