Joe Ed Goolsby of First United Methodist Church in Sherman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. The family will greet friends on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Dannel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dustin, Zachary, Ryan, Joshua and Lee Wayne Logston and Eddy Hulsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Milot, Jacob, Joshua, and Adam Hulsey. The United States Air Force will render full military honors at the graveside. Jim was born on August 23, 1926 in Highland, Arkansas to James Taylor Lingo and wife Lilla Marvell Harris Lingo. He attended school in Beirne, Arkansas and spent two years in Gurdon, Arkansas before deciding to join the United States Airforce at 17 years of age. He earned his GED while in the miliary and served as a Special Agent with the Office of Special Investigation (OSI) and also oversaw supply. He retired as a Master Sergeant on August 1, 1968, after 23 years of service. On April 29, 1950, he married Katherine E. Strickland, and of that marriage had two daughters, Donna Kay Fritchman and Diane Renee Logston. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim worked for the railroad and Hardwick Etter. He then joined the US Postal Service in Sherman in 1969, where he loved his job and never met a stranger. He eventually met and married Marie Hulsey on April 10, 1976. The same year he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree from East Texas State University. Then, after 19 years of service to the Post Office, he retired but continued to stay busy doing carpentry and was very active in his church, First United Methodist Church in Sherman. Jim was part of the A & W team (able and willing), he was part of the beloved "Dough Boys", helped with houses during Great Days of Service, and he built wood yard swings. If you could not afford a swing and he knew about it, one would magically appear at your house. He built 74 swings! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wives Katherine and Marie, sister Helen Dodwell, and step son, Woody Hulsey. He is survived by his daughters, Diane Logston and husband Lee Wayne of Sherman, Donna Fritchman and husband Rodney of Sherman, step daughter Patsy Harvey Cowan and friend Don McCown of Tennessee, step son Eddy Hulsey and wife Sandy of Denison, step daughter in law Robbie Hulsey of Denison; grandchildren: Dustin Logston and wife Ashley of Melissa, Zachary Logston and wife Kenzie of McKinney, Joshua Logston and Ryan Logston of Sherman, Rodney Fritchman, Jr. and wife Kim of Wills Point, Aimee Fannin and husband Blake of Frisco, Joey Milot and wife Kara of Garland, Jacob Hulsey and wife Natalie of Denison, Joshua Hulsey and wife Kisha of Amarillo, and Adam Hulsey of Denison, 14 great grandchildren, including his special "little buddy" Maddox Logston and newest great grandson Mason Logston. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at Wilson N. Jones Hospital to include Ground South, Dr. Benson and staff, Dr. Joshi and staff along with Changing Seasons Home Health and The Renaissance Assisted Living for all the wonderful care you have shown our loved one. The family appreciates the loving concern of Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby and the members of the Adult Fellowship Class and all members of First United Methodist Church Sherman which he loved so dearly.
