Obituary For James Walker

James Dale Walker, 64, of Sherman, died unexpectedly Monday, December 30, 2013. His family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Trinity Lighthouse in Denison, Texas, with Rev. Raymond England officiating. Interment will follow immediately afterward at Van Alstyne Cemetery in Van Alstyne, Texas. James was born September 16, 1949, in Sherman, to J.D. Walker and Ruby Head Walker. He was raised in Van Alstyne, and was a graduate of Van Alstyne High School. He married Margaret Pack on July 8, 1974. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison. James worked at Reedrill for a number of years, before opening Accentt Marble & Texoma Durastone in 1983 with brother-in-law Paul Bodovsky. Together – with much help from their respective families – they built those ventures into the successful, growing businesses currently in operation. James – known to his grandchildren as “Grumpy”, and close friends as “Booger” – loved life. He was passionate about his family and his friends. To know James was to love him. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His love for motorcycles began at an early age. While in his twenties, he raced dirt bikes; then as the years went on, he progressed up to his beloved Harley-Davidson. Any spare time James ever found was evenly divided between his family and the ‘Wheels of Faith’ motorcycle ‘family’. “Though you are gone from our lives physically, you will forever be in our hearts. Not a day will pass that we won’t think of you and miss you! You will forever be our hero. We won’t say ‘goodbye’, only that we will ‘see you later’. We love you to the moon and back! – Your Family. James was preceded in death by both parents and brother, Robbie Walker. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years, Margaret Pack Walker; his children: Michael Sean Walker of Dorchester, Mark Keith Walker of Pottsboro, James Eric Walker of Denison and Kristin House of Pottsboro; sister, Wilma Allen of Garland; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. For floral remembrances, Hannah’s Florist is available at 903.893.8171. In addition, the Walker family would be honored by memorial donations to Bikers Against Child Abuse, at www.bacausa.com, or Texoma Meals on Wheels, at www.mowot.org or by mail to 4114 Airport Dr. in Denison, TX 75020.
