Obituary For James Wylie Langford
Celebration of Life
James Wylie “Bubba” Langford, 78, passed away May 17 surrounded by his loved ones. Services will held at Dannel Funeral Home on Thursday May 27 at 10 AM.
James was born in Dallas, Texas in August 21, 1942 to Paul Langford and Mary Louise Wilson Langford. He attended public schools in Sherman and graduated in 1960. He was a member of FFA and thus began a lifetime of raising and caring for animals.
After school James joined the Marines and served in Vietnam during the war. He was in the first wave of Marines to land in Vietnam. During his service he received the Good Conduct Medal 1st Award, Rifle Sharpshooter Award, National Defense Service Medal and The Armed Forces Expeditionary Award. Upon returning home he started college at Grayson while working for IBM.
Next he started in the surveying business and ended up with his own company. He loved being outdoors and knew every corner of Grayson County. He was also the owner and proprietor of a commercial pest control company and a real estate inspection service.
James enjoyed hunting and fishing on Lake Texoma and spending time with his dearest friends of whom he had many. You would always hear the saying, “Bub never meet a stranger”.
His greatest love was watching his only child, daughter Lauren, grow into the beautiful woman she is today. Then he was blessed with becoming “Papaw” to his three precious grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. He loved them so very much.
James is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary Louise Langford, his sister Wanda Langford Howard, brother-in-law Dwight Howard, and one of his closest friends Tommy Wayne Patton.
James is survived by his daughter Lauren Blair Langford and her spouse Justin Edwards, his three beautiful grandchildren, Baylee Jane, Gavin “Bubba” Burns and his namesake Madelyn James, all of Sherman, Texas. Sister Donna Walker and husband Larry Walker of Sherman, brother Doug Langford and wife Terri Langford of Sherman, brother Tommy Langford and wife Terri Langford of Sherman, best friend Farrol Carrol and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family of James “Bubba” also wishes to extend our sincere thank you to everyone at Carrus Hospital in Sherman for all their kindness and comfort not only for James but his entire family. A special thank you to Dr. Watson and his staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lone Star Ranch and Rescue in Blue Ridge, Texas
No words can express the hole left in our hearts, and he will be missed by many.
Condolences
