Obituary For Janine McKee

Janine Lynne McKee, 70 of Sherman, Texas went to her heavenly home on Monday October 1st after living with diabetes for 58 years. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. Janine was born on November 29, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Start High School. She worked at a number of jobs until she met and married the love of her life, Tom McKee on February 6, 1971. They shared 47 wonderful years together. She was a loving wife, mother and sister who made friends easily. She was known for her amazing memory. Cards for her family and friends always arrived on time for any special occasions. In 1979 the family moved to Sherman, TX where Janine worked as an Avon representative for more than 15 years. Janine was a long time, active member of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority. For over 40 years serving others brought her great joy. She was an original member of a Bunco group that has been active for over 38 years. Janine will be remembered as a positive, thoughtful and determined woman who never let anything get her down despite her health issues. Janine supported her daughter as a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed time as a room mother and Girl Scout troop leader. She was always there for Julie’s dance recitals and sporting events. She was an active Christian and long-standing member of Grace United Methodist Church and served as a leader of Grace UMW. Together mother and daughter shared their faith through teaching Sunday school and participating in church events. She is survived by her husband Tom of, Sherman; daughter Julie Elizabeth (Paul) McCasland of Omaha, NE, sister Judith (Richard) Schafer of Kaleva, MI, sisters-in-law Mary (Mike) Graff of Ocala, FL, Kathy (Bill) Zwicker of Suwanee, GA and Peg (Scott) Whisnand of Naples, FL. She also leaves her two precious grandchildren Evy and Austin McCasland, eight nieces and nephews and eighteen great nieces and nephews. We want to express special appreciation to all her doctors for the care she received through the years and all the medical personnel at Texoma Medical Center who quickly became her friends. Family visitation will be Friday October 5th, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 2800 Canyon Creek Drive, Sherman. Services will be held on Saturday October 6th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Frank Drenner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.JDRF.org) and/or to Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Online memorial may be posted at dannelfuneralhome.com

Hello Tom and Julie. We will always remember Janine with her smiling face and positive attitude, despite the many health issues she had to deal with over the years. She did not seem to let it get her down! Maybe that was because she knew one day she would leave this imperfect world and go to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior Jesus. We look forward to meeting up with her again some day when our own time has come. ~ Cole and Roxanne Jennings, San Antonio, Texas

We were so sorry to hear about Janine's passing. Her & I were friends many years ago, in high school! Over the years we've lost contact with each other, but I've wondered many times about how she was doing. Not sure if you remember us, Tom, but take care and cherish all the memories. ~ Sandy & Gary Schmidt, Blissfield, Michigan
