Obituary For Jean Davidchik

Jean Davidchik went to her Savior on April 13, 2025, at Texoma Medical Center following a brief illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, April 21, at First United Methodist Church Sherman. Rev. Denice Peckham, Pastor, will officiate. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at 11:00 AM in the church parlor.

Jean was born in Howe, Texas, to Roy and Alsie Trammell on April 27, 1930. She grew up in Howe and Dorchester, graduating from Dorchester High School in 1947. She met and married Steven Davidchik of Sherman in 1948. They were together for almost 57 years until his passing in 2005. She spent her life raising her 5 children and supporting them in their various activities and actively participating in many community outreaches over the years.

Her Christian faith was central to her life. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Sherman. She regularly attended worship, taught Sunday school, and participated in United Methodist Women for over 50 years.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alsie Trammell, husband Steve Davidchik, her brother, Jack Trammell, sisters, Mary Lou Hanning and Linda Fox, sons in law, Lonnie Chase, Jim Reed, and Rocky Rumsey, and granddaughter, Clark Davidchik Harrison.

She is survived by her sister, Gwen Thompson and sister-in-law, June Trammell, also, daughters Diana Rumsey, Chris Reed, Karen Chase-Cohen and Phyllis Finley, son, Zack Davidchik and wife Jennifer, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She has numerous nieces and nephews as well as many devoted friends. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Sherman, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
