Obituary For Jeannette Cranfill

Jeannette G. Cranfill, 89, a life-long resident of Sherman, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015, at The Homestead of Denison. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at Dannel Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bryan Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park immediately afterward. There will be a family/friend visitation period one hour prior to the service. Jeannette was born July 1, 1925, in Sherman, TX, to J.J. and Edna Ford Griffin. She graduated from Howe High School in 1942. She married Aubrey Leo Cranfill on July 26, 1947 and they enjoyed over forty years together before his death in 1998. Jeannette was a 'lifer' at Johnson & Johnson Co., beginning her employment with them on the first day the plant opened for operation. She devoted her entire working career to J & J, eventually retiring around 1990. Jeannette has been a long-time member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman. In her leisure, she thoroughly enjoyed gardening and also loved to get away for a day of fishing. If forced inside, she most likely would delve into her crossword puzzle book . Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ford Griffin and Rev. David Griffin, and a nephew, Larry Griffin. Survivors include nieces/nephews: Paul Griffin and wife Debbie, J.D. Griffin and wife Tammy, and Cindy Griffin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Serving as pallbearers are great-nephews Garette Griffin, Josh Griffin, Matt Griffin, Andrew Griffin, Bobby Carter and Will Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcomed for Forest Avenue Baptist Church, at 106 W. Forest Ave. in Sherman, TX (75092).
