Joanne Cox Slaughter passed away on September 29 2012 at Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi TX. She was 91. Graveside Service will be at Highland Cemetery in Durant Oklahoma on Friday October 5 2012 at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Harkens of Sherman Bible Church officiating. Joanne was born on July 25 1921 to William E. Cox and Nell Lee (Hightower) Cox in Denison Texas. She graduated from Denison High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech in 1942. On December 26 1941 she married Charles William " Dub" Slaughter Sr. in Denison Texas and in their union they had two children. Joanne was a member of the American Association of University Women. She loved to travel and entertain her friends and family she loved playing bridge and even taught the residents at her own independent living home at Trinity Towers. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents William and Nell Cox her husband Charles "Dub" Slaughter Sr. Surviving is son Bill Slaughter and wife Mary of Corpus Christi TX daughter Leanne Horgan and husband Paul of Zurich Switzerland grandchildren, Amy Slaughter Christina Bingham Anneliese Ziemba Aaron Ralston Kate Horgan John Horgan.
