Obituary For Joe Douglas McClaran
Joe Douglas McClaran, 69, of Sherman, passed away on February 16, 2021 in Plano, TX.
Joe was born in Sherman, Texas on August 19, 1951 to Cecil & Dorothy McClaran (Nicholson). He graduated from Sherman High School in 1969 and subsequently graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He married Cathy Brown on July 1, 1972 and together they had 2 children. He worked as an HR representative and planner for Texas Instruments for many years. Joe enjoyed fishing, cooking and Tuesday morning coffee with fellow Masons at the lodge. What really made him happy was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Joe was a member and involved in the Travis Masonic Lodge 117. He was a junior steward for 11 years, a senior steward from 2010 - present, a lodge instructor and received The Golden Trowel Award.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Cecil McClaran, mother Dorothy Nicholson, brother James McClaran and grandson, Devin Kirchner.
Joe is survived by his wife Cathy McClaran, daughter Staci Kirchner of Pflugerville, TX, son Brian McClaran and wife Kristi of Sherman, TX, his 5 grandchildren: Morgan Horton and husband Corbin, Marissa Kirchner, Tayvin McClaran, Kambri McClaran and Kielee McClaran. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren: Bentley and Kelci Horton.
Visitation will be Monday, February 22nd 2021 from 5-7 pm at Dannel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 at Dannel Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Rice of First Baptist Church Sherman, officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be members from the Travis Masonic Lodge 117.
