Obituary For John Barnes

Services for John David Barnes, 43, of Denison who passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 will be held on Friday, November 18th at First United Methodist Church in Sherman at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby will officiate. A reception will be held for the family to receive friends after the service on Friday at the church in Binkley Hall. John was born September 25, 1973 in Denison to Ray and Pauline Barnes. He went to Sherman Public Schools and graduated in 1992. His greatest joy and accomplishment were his children. He loved people and had a huge love for friends and family. He loved watching his boys play basketball, baseball, football and any organized sport they could play. He loved to watch movies and could quote every line of his favorites. He would pause the movie in the middle of it and have a 20 minute conversation then rewind it and it would take 5 hours to watch a 2 hour movie. John loved to laugh and he loved to play practical jokes. He was an avid golfer and an entrepreneur. He was the founder and CEO of Lifeline Medical and Lyn-Core. John made Entrepreneur magazine in 2008 & 2009, top 500 and top 100 fastest growing companies in the U.S.. John was self made and knew how to sell anything. He will be missed. John was preceded in death by his daughter Ashlynn Nicole Barnes. He is survived by his parents, Ray and Pauline Barnes; daughter Baylie Barnes; sons John David Barnes II, Colin Barnes; daughter Ava Barnes; sisters Kimberly Wilson and husband Scott, Shelly Stalls and husband Mark, Will and Sandy Cates and many nieces and nephews, and a great many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org. Pallbearers for John will be Kelly Gann, Jeff Lightfoot, Will Cates, Jr., Austin Cates, DJ Woody, and Drew Mioton. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.     Dear Ray, Pauline, Kim, and Family: I was saddened to hear about John, and distressed that I had to miss the service. John had a special place in the heart of everyone that knew him. He was always so happy & kind, and such a hard worker. He could sell ice to an Eskimo! I will relish the memories that he and I shared. Good times! Much love to you all.     Ray, Pauline, and family, I was so sorry to hear of John's premature death. It has to be the worst thing to have to deal with, loss of one's child. We miss you at church and I was so sorry to miss the service. I did hear the church was packed, a tribute to the great family and to your son, John.     When i was Colin's teacher for second and third grade, John would always pick Colin up after school. He always had the most positive attitude and I could tell Colin was one of his greatest joys in life. Everyday when I opened the door he would say, hey cool kid Colin, how was school today!!!!!
