John Sneed, age 69, passed away in his home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Sherman, Texas. John is survived by his loving wife Linda (Brown). They married in Covington, Oklahoma on May 19, 1970. John was born in Sherman, Texas at Wilson and Jones on March 18, 1949 to Carlton (Burger) and Cora Dell (Hardin) Sneed. He graduated from Tom Bean High School in 1969. John was preceded in death by his parents, Burger and Cora Dell, and his brother, Jack Sneed. His first job was at the local cotton mill. In 1970, he became employed at Anderson Clayton Foods and continued to work there for 25 years. Thereafter, he used his skill and passion for wood working in a cabinet shop for the next 15 years. At the time of his death he was employed by Emerson (Fisher Controls). John is survived by his sister, Yvonna Hardin, his three children, Scott (and Jacob) Sneed, Zachery (and Stacey) Sneed, and Amy (and Ramiro) Pesina. He was also known as “Papa” to seven adoring grandchildren: Hayden Sneed Pesina, Alyssa Sneed, Adleigh Pesina, Ava Pesina, Riley Sneed, Bailey Sneed, and Avery Pesina. He is survived by several generations of nieces and nephews and also had a special bond with Michelle, Kim and Emma Ludlow. John will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on March 26, 2018 at Dannel Funeral Home. Pastor Lander Bethel of Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church will be officiating. The family will greet visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on March 25, 2018 at Dannel Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral immediately at Westhill Cemetery in Sherman. John loved the lord. He was a strong man, a loving husband, caring father, and a gentle Papa. As long as life and memory last, he will be remembered.
