Obituary For Johnnie Wilburn Robinson
JOHNNIE WILBURN ROBINSON, 83, of Denison TX, went to his heavenly home on March 17,2022, surrounded by his loving family. Wilburn was born in Willis, OK, on November 17,1938, to Tim and Viola Mayo Robinson. He is survived by the Love of his Life, his wife of 63 years, Joyce King Robinson; two sons: Elwin Robinson (Karen) of Poolville, Texas and son Tim Robinson (Rudy) of Denison, Texas; Granddaughter Sjonica Mallard (Jon) of Denton, Texas; 3 great grandchildren: Madilynn, Morgan and McClain Mallard of Denton, TX; Wilburn is also survived by 4 aunts: Josephine Dobbs of Enid, OK, Christine Hughes of Marietta, OK, Joan Robinson of Dickson, OK and Goldie Robinson of Ardmore, OK; Uncle: Bobby Mayo (Monna) of Ft. Worth, TX; many nieces and nephews.
Wilburn is preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Viola (Cot and Sis) Robinson formerly of Whitesboro, his brother, Claud Elwin Robinson formerly of Whitesboro, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Wilburn attended Whitesboro High School in Whitesboro, TX, where he followed in his fathers’ footsteps working for the city of Whitesboro in the Power Plant. Next, he moved his family to Denton, working with his uncle Bobby in the water department for the City of Denton where he retired after 17 years as the water department manager. Wilburn was not one to be idle so he finished his working career with first the city of River Oaks, Texas and finally for the Denton County Road and Bridge Department. After retirement he enjoyed many activities with his family and friends. He loved deer hunting and watching his granddaughter show cattle. His biggest judgment on her show calves was a straight back and he would sure tell you about it too! Over the years, Wilburn traveled to Colorado and all over the state of Texas so he could find a good deer lease and enjoy a good hunting trip. He was even known to take the boys out of school for a week for a hunting trip in Colorado. Fishing was a passion he enjoyed in his younger years, running trotlines on Lake Texoma and was successful at keeping the freezers full. He was always involved in his kids and grandkids activities, whether Tim was showing or Elwin was roping. He made sure that he was always available for his granddaughter, Sjonica and to his great grandkids Madilynn, Morgan & McClain when they showed calves…always loving to be involved and always so proud of them!
A graveside service for Mr. Robinson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville, Texas with Pastor Al Dusek officiating. There is no set time for family visitation, but the family of Wilburn invites you to come to the cemetery to celebrate a life well lived by a man who was deeply loved by many.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Sissney along with Birdie Hospice and their team for all the wonderful care given to Wilburn.
Condolences
