Obituary For Jonathan Ian Flack

Jonathan Ian Flack of Sherman, Texas, passed away on June 30, 2026, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Jonathan was born on July 18, 1962, to Mary and Julian Flack in London, England, where he was raised.

Jonathan earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a Master of Business Administration. He built a professional career in sales and telecommunications, where his determination, business acumen, and willingness to embrace new opportunities took him around the world before he ultimately immigrated to the United States. Throughout his career, he worked for Ford Motor Company, BT, and several telecommunications companies in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

He married Amy Brundeen on April 12, 2025, in Sherman, Texas. Jonathan was an active member of First United Methodist Sherman, where he served on the tech team and found joy in worship, service, and the friendships he built within the congregation.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Julian Flack. He is survived by his wife Amy Flack of Sherman, Texas; his daughter Eleanor Julianne Flack of Dedham, England; his stepson Ethan Brundeen of Kerrville, Texas; stepdaughter Ginny Brundeen and partner Angelo of Lake Stevens, Washington, and sister Debbie Livingston and her husband Ian of London, England.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jonathan was a fierce supporter of the Ipswich Town F.C., Harlequins Rugby, and the Dallas Stars. He was rarely happier than when he was wearing one of his favorite sports jerseys. He loved history, travel, enjoying proper fish and chips by the seaside, and sharing his distinctive sense of humor with his family and friends.

Jonathan was very civic-minded and believed in giving back to his community. Prior to moving to the United States, he lived in Dedham, England, where he served on the Dedham Parish Council. He was most proud of his lovely daughter Eleanor and his American citizenship, which he achieved in October 2024.

Jonathan will be remembered as a capable and successful professional and a man of faith. He believed strongly in the power of education and demonstrated that conviction through his volunteer work helping adults learn to read. Jonathan found joy in wordplay and believed a good pun was always intended. His generosity, wit, and support of those he loved will be remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial service celebrating Jonathan’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church Sherman. Service details will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be given to First United Methodist Church Sherman, Cancer Research UK, or Aspire, where Jonathan volunteered as a literacy instructor.
