Obituary For Joseph Demers
Our daddy, Joseph Adrian Demers, 85, of Sherman was called to be with the Lord on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. He was born on February 28, 1932 in Massena, New York to Eli and Aldia Demers. He graduated from Massena Central High School in 1951. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1955, Joseph worked for many companies, including the Niagara Falls Power Project, Hardwick Etter, Wonder Bread, and Hitchcock Industries, which later became Denison Industries, where he worked until his retirement. He loved spending time with family and taking weekly trips to Hagerman. He was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan, loved Nascar, hockey, and baseball. He also loved playing numerous sports and square dancing in his younger years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Raymond Demers, sister, Lillian Dufresne, and the mother of his children, Genee Carter. Joseph is survived by his four children; daughter, Theresa Demers Trice, son, Joseph Michael Demers and wife Donna, daughters, Melinda Demers and Danielle Demers Sutherland; grandchildren: Jennifer Trice, Michelle and Robert Montgomery, Melissa and Jason McKinney, Kerry and Liliana Shelton, Sarah Gunter and Chris Sorenson, Adrian Demers and Olivia Demers; sisters: Vivian Boley and Theresa Hannan; brothers: Robert Demers and wife Shirley, Paul Demers and wife Sabine, Peter Demers and wife Kay; numerous great, great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
