Joshua “Josh” Jarvis, 35, of Denison, went to heaven holding his mother Barbara Booth's hand Sunday Morning April 19th at Texoma Medical Center. After spending the day surrounded by family and friends, celebrating his coming rejoicing, he stayed with us until his party was over here on earth and began his party in heaven. Family visitation will be held at Dannel Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 21st from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22nd, at First United Methodist Church of Sherman. Rev. Chris Dowd will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park immediately afterward. Josh was born January 5, 1980 to Barbara Potts Booth and Jimmy Evans, the older brother to twin Brandon. Josh waited on Brandon to arrive before he would cry. At age 5, Josh and his brother were adopted by their Dad David Jarvis. Josh was the oldest grandchild on both the Potts and Jarvis family. He was named after his grandfather Robert Lee Potts and was the light of his, Maurine as well as Tom and Jerri Jarvis’ life. Josh and his brother loved spending time at MeMe and Pappas house shooting BB guns, fishing and helping work on “his Roberts” cars. He also loved to swim at his Grandma and Pops house- sometimes riding his bike into the pool. Josh had two lives. For the first 15 years he was an active soccer player, swimmer, golfer and bike rider, and he loved playing practical jokes. He played competitive soccer with his brother and was coached by his Dad. His teammates, with whom he traveled, have become lifelong friends. He was a leader and loved life and girls! His kindergarten teacher said we would never have to worry about him NOT winning a personality contest. In 1995, at age 15, Josh was involved in a car wreck changing his life forever when he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Josh spent 4 months in a coma. He later returned to Sherman High school and graduated in 2002; his classmates graduated in 1998. Josh loved everybody and told them so. He never met a stranger. Josh loved his mother and brother, and family and enjoyed spending time with the entire family. He inspired many, including a distant cousin, who was inspired to ride in the Journey of Hope because of Josh. His testimony to life and his love will be forever remembered. He also loved going to brain injury camps where he would participate in the talent show, singing Amazing Grace, and giving everyone there a hug and just enjoying the mountain high. Josh will be remembered for telling everyone he loved them, and he did. Josh said he died twice in 1995 and now he gets to spend eternity in Heaven. His last prayer request was for him to walk again and now he is, free of his broken body walking with the Lord on the streets of Gold. Josh was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Evans, grandfathers Robert Lee Potts and Lyndol Evans. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Booth and her husband (Josh's other father) Brian; his twin Brandon Jarvis; his nephew, Benton Jarvis; his father, David Jarvis and his wife Karen; siblings, Chloe and Chris Jarvis and Colton Franks; grandparents, Maurine 'MeMe' Potts, Tom 'Pop' and Jerri Jarvis, and Jimmie Juanell Evans; sister-in-law, Candace Jarvis; aunts and uncles: Melissa and Mike Wortham, Bobby Jarvis, John Jarvis, Clint and Judy Evans; honorary 'aunts/uncles': Roeann Vaughan, Pam and Don Gordon, Amal and Farouk Harirri. Serving as pallbearers are: Brandon Jarvis, Talal Hariri, Nick Kerby, Paxton Emerson, Kris Kirk and Yuzen Alheyari. Honorary bearer is Natalie Inman Parnell.
