Obituary For Joyce Allen

Joyce Allen completed her earthly journey August 1 2011 and through her Christian faith has since traveled to her heavenly home. Born September 15 1920 in rural Fannin County to tenant farmers C.C. and Grace (Pyrtle) Malone the first of five children. Farm life was filled with hardships adventure and love molding Joyce into the determined and strong individual that she would become. Following her childhood years centered around the Bartley Woods community the family moved to Vernon Texas where Joyce finished high school and began her education in nursing. Trained at Parkland Hospital in Dallas Joyce would become an RN enlist in the Army and rise to the rank of lieutenant serving in Germany at the end of WWII. Following the war"¢s end she would soon marry Raymon Perry Allen of Randolph her husband of sixty years. Together they attended East Texas State Teacher"¢s College raised twin sons Perry Wayne and Jerry Lane and taught in Texas schools for over thirty-five years. Raised on a farm during the great depression her values were established early. A strong faith and purpose of task have directed her life, her dedication and devotion to family and friends have been evidenced throughout. In addition Mrs. Allen has provided education and direction to elementary students throughout the North Texas area offering the same love and devotion that have framed her life. Following retirement from the Iowa Park Independent school district Joyce and her husband Perry moved to Sherman making many new friends and enjoying frequent trips to Orlando Florida to visit the family and Branson Missouri to enjoy the entertainment that they both loved so much. After her husband"s death her life would continue to revolve around family and friends. Joyce lived her Christian faith and will be dearly missed by family friends and all who were influenced by this strong and beautiful person including the residents of The Willows and the Super Seniors at Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her son Jerry Lane and her husband Raymon Perry her two sisters Maedell Brown and Clara Reeves and her brother Junior Malone. Remaining to cherish memories and continue her loving way of life are her son Perry and wife Dawn of Orlando Florida two granddaughters Lauren Germanos and husband Nolan and Hannah Allen also of Orlando a great granddaughter Piper and great grandson Colton of Orlando brother Dr. Farris Douglas Malone and wife Betty of Richardson numerous nieces and nephews and dearly loved neighbors and friends in and around Sherman Texas. Arrangements for Mrs. Allen are being handled by Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman. The service will be held Friday morning at 9:30 on August 5th at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Keith Head of First United Methodist Church of Terrell TX will officiate. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday August 4th from 6:00 ââ?¬" 8:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Home Hospice of Grayson County.
