Obituaries

Joyce Ann Guthrie of Van Alstyne passed away peacefully in her home Sunday September 11, 2022. She was born July 19, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK to Byron and Delores Graham. She married Don Guthrie of Oklahoma City, OK on April 6, 1966. She retired from the Anna Independent School District after many years as the Secretary to the Superintendent.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don Guthrie, and son Graham Guthrie. She is survived by her brothers Marvin Graham and wife Patricia, and Frank Graham; children Dennis Abercrombie and wife Sally, Kelly McTee and husband Vic, and Whitney Guthrie; daughter-in-law Tracey Guthrie; grandchildren Lisa Abercrombie, Lindsey Murphy and husband Justin, Brad Abercrombie and wife Jamie, and Dylan Guthrie; great-grandchildren Madison, Gavin, and Jocelyn Reno, Chloe, Emmie, and Hagen Murphy, and Brody and Emory Abercrombie; and nieces Ashley and Christi Graham.

Joyce loved reading, gardening, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at all of their events where she was lovingly known to all as Mimi. She was known for her caring nature, her selflessness, and her great sense of humor. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Van Alstyne where she enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.

Joyce touched many lives and had many lifelong friends with whom she enjoyed visiting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
