Obituary For Joyce Elaine Mollenhour

Joyce Elaine Mollenhour, 69, of Colbert, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on September 29, 2022, with her husband by her side.

Joyce was born to the late Tom Henry and Imogene (Brown) Lisenby on September 23, 1953, in Dekalb, Texas. She graduated from Haworth High School in 1971. Later in life, Joyce married Dave Mollenhour on November 7, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they lived happily together in Colbert, Oklahoma, with their love blossoming from the simplest of first dinner dates at Shumardii’s of Bonham, Texas, to growing deep roots built on a solid foundation of faith, love, respect, and mutual partnership.

Joyce is survived by her adoring husband, Dave Mollenhour, and two children, Dwayne Stinson of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Christa Sheehey of Bonham, Texas. She is survived by three loving grandchildren, Zackary Sheehey of Bonham, Texas, and Kelli and Michael Stinson of Idabel, Oklahoma, also Zoey and Josh Mollenhour of Pottsboro. She was preceded in death by her brother, the late Tommy Lisenby of Talala, Oklahoma, and is survived by her brother, John Lisenby of Madison, Alabama, and sisters, Connie Gray of Idabel, Oklahoma, Cheryl Thurman of Idabel, Oklahoma, and Ronelda Shirley of New Boston, Texas. However, the list of people Joyce surrounded herself with and always made time for in her life is extensive. The lives of many will never be the same due to her absence.

Joyce was the center of Dave Mollenhour’s world. She was dedicated to living in God’s grace and always put her family and friends before herself. All of us will remember fondly the “Mollenhour Christmas” she and her husband hosted every year. She especially loved her role as Nana and was definitely more than happy to be the central figure in her daughter’s and grandson’s lives. She epitomized the title of our family’s matriarch. To say she was the glue that held her entire extended family together is an understatement.

Her passions included the home she and Dave recently finished remodeling and the flower beds she meticulously maintained. It warms our hearts to know she spent her last day tending her flowers. In addition, she developed a passion of hunting for fossils and rocks with her grandson, Zackary, in the creek behind their home. None of us will ever forget her penchant for absconding with fossils and rocks from every place she and Dave ever visited.

Please join us at Kemp Baptist Church on Monday, October 3, 2022, for family night from 5 pm to 8 pm. Kemp Baptist Church will be hosting a lunch in her honor on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 11 am followed by the funeral service at 1 pm in the chapel. Pastor Roger Speers will officiate. Her many family and friends will then escort her to her final resting place at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, Texas. Pallbearers for Joyce will be Chris Sheehey, Zackary Sheehey, Caden Noe, BJ McKee, Corey Townsend, and Trey Mollenhour. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Lovelace, Wyatt McKee, Colton McKee, Casey Townsend and Vinny Ledbetter.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joyce’s Flower Garden of Kemp Baptist Church, 510 Main St., Hendrix, Oklahoma,74741.
