The family will greet friends on Sunday, December 13, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home.

Joyce passed away on Thursday, December 10 at her home surrounded by her children.

Joyce was born on February 12, 1932 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Lee and Effie Jones. She was raised in Hugo and attended Hugo schools. The family moved to Stockton, California where she met and married her husband Sonny Lewis. She had eight children: Ricky, Jamie, Letha, Randall, Stacy, Cindi, Linda, and Amy. They eventually moved back to Cartwright, Oklahoma where they raised their children and had many wonderful memories. After her husband’s passing, Joyce moved to Sherman to be closer to her children.

Joyce was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and a current member of Cartwright Baptist Church and she also attended Sherman Bible Church. She had followed Christ her entire life and was a true Disciple of Jesus Christ.

If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you never forgot her. She had a smile that immediately made you feel that you were a very special person in her life and you could feel the special love from her heart to yours. Joyce was the most positive person. She loved singing and dancing around the house, (and anywhere else), cooking family dinners and having the whole family all together. One thing is for certain, her life was always happy.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Sonny Lewis, her parents Lee Jones and Effie Cooper, brothers Bob, Haskel, and Jack Jones, and sister Pat Hughes. She is survived by her children: Rick Mize and wife Lynn of Headland, Alabama, Jamie Peratta and husband Fred of Sherman, Letha Hayes and husband Gary of Pottsboro, Randall Collum and wife Donna of Sherman, Stacy Means and husband Danny of Malvern, Iowa, Cindi Uselton-Hudgeons and husband Sid of Lake Kiowa, Linda Babbitt and husband Tim of Cartwright, Oklahoma, and Amy Geter of Cartwright, Oklahoma.

Joyce “Mamaw” was most proud of her grandkids totaling 45 grands and great grand kids, also a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Centric Home Health and Hospice team for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Joyce Lewis to Cartwright Baptist Church, 187 Willafa Woods Rd., Cartwright, OK 74731.

As required by state and local mandate, please wear masks.
