Obituary For Judith "Judy" Ann Coffman Norrell

Judith “Judy” Ann Coffman Norrell, 79, of Sherman, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by love.

She was born on April 13, 1946, in Poringland Norwich, England to parents Andrew “Andy” B. and Louisa “Peggy” Bird Coffman. She was baptized at All Saints Church in Poringland. The newly formed family moved to Sherman when she was nine months old. Sherman became their forever home and her brother, David, was born to complete their family.

Judy lived her life with grace and humility. She had a kind word for everyone. Her kind spirit and loving nature was always evident. She loved the Lord and talked to him daily. “When He’s all you’ve got, you’ll find He’s all you need.” was posted on her refrigerator.

She was a proud graduate of Sherman High School, Class of 1964. On May 17, 1972, she married her true love, Robert “Bob” Norrell, at Kerr Chapel Baptist Church in Sherman. Together they shared many years of happiness until his passing in 2009.

In retirement Judy and her brother, David, spent many years crafting. She was a gifted artist and designer. Together they would travel to trade shows with their creations.

A very special thank you to the entire staff of Home Hospice of Grayson County. They provided the absolute best care and support for Judy. She (and Mollie) looked forward to each visit. Judy also loved and appreciated her special friends (you know who you are) who supported and cared for her.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother. She is survived by her beloved pup, Mollie, and cat, Little Paw, and her dear neighbors and friends.

A Memorial service will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM, in the Dannel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Noblett officiating. Services are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Judy’s favorites: Home Hospice of Grayson County, 505 W. Center, Sherman, TX 75090 or DAWG Denison Animal Welfare Group, PO Box 1300, Denison, TX 75021.

Farewell dear friend. Judy and I were friends for over 77 years. We first met as toddlers. She and her family lived in an apartment above the Gulf station at Highway 75 and South Crockett Street and my parents and I lived in the apartment behind the Coker Food Store on Hwy 75. Our homes were on either side of The Juicy Pig Cafe. When it was almost time to start our formal education at George Washington Elementary School we moved to 2421 South Crockett Street and the Coffmans to a house on Miller Drive, our back yards almost back to back. We grew up together though I was two years older. We climbed trees, waded in the creek, made up stories and songs, built imaginary castles and pirate ships. She and David and I were The Three Musketeers. We made mud pies and climbed the enormous swings Daddy built in our yard. We climbed to the top to survey our kingdom, jumped off houses and celebrated Halloween, had rock fights, made up, celebrated birthdays and new puppies, parakeets and kittens. Though we had different high school friends and didn't see each other much for several years after graduations, our mothers helped us stay in touch. When FaceBook came along we reconnected, caught up on our lives, exchanged favors for each other long distance and spoke on the phone often when we needed a lifelong friend to confide in, to remember, to laugh and cry with, as we reminisced. We knew her time was coming but she was ready and brave and carried always her sweet spirit to the very end. She will be missed and not forgotten. I love you, Judy. Laurie Coker

It was such an honor to meet and be loved by such a precious lady. Judy had a beautiful smile and such a positive outlook on life. Judy was one of a kind, and definitely left an imprint on my heart. Judy was loving, gracious and so kind. I will forever cherish our time together, and forever be thankful that God brought us together as she often reminded me of that.

I became really good friends with Judy and Mollie after she came back home and living on Hospice. I was there for her and Mollie for several months and we talked and laughed together and became besties. I loved both of them and will miss them terribly. 😢 Goldie Kelley
