Obituary For Julia Winifred Pace

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make a donation in honor of Julia Pace to Heart to Heart Hospice of Sherman, Texas.

A graveside service for Julia Winifred Shaw Pace,95, will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas, at 2:00 PM. Pastor Leland Samuelson will officiate.

Julia W. Pace was born on February 13, 1928, in Nottingham, England, to Francis Harry and Doris Winifred Shaw. She had a brother, Frank, and a sister, Jean. She was raised in Nottingham and attended an all girls school before graduating and joining the Royal Air Force. Julia then began working at her mother’s photography studio and that is where she met the love of her life, David Milton Pace, Jr.. They were married for over 60 years until his passing in 2006. Julia and her husband moved to the United States in 1949 and they settled in Sherman in 1960, where her husband was a Chief Master Sergeant at Perrin Air Force Base. They had two children, Susan and David. Julia worked as a seamstress for many years along with her membership in the Overseas Wives Club where she served as the president and her involvement with the Senior Citizens Center.

Julia loved people. She had a fantastic sense of humor and would talk to anyone about growing up in England, especially her experience as a little girl during World War II. She loved her family and her home. She was an excellent cook, especially English dishes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her but she is happily reunited with the only man she ever loved, her husband David.

Julia is preceded in death by her husband, David Pace, Jr., her parents, her brother, Frank Shaw, and her sister, Jean Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Susan McGennis of Corpus Christi, TX, her son, David M. Pace, III and wife Karen of Sherman; four grandchildren: Britanee Pace of Sherman, Heather Pace of Colorado Springs, CO, Aimee Gibbs and husband Daniel of Dickerson, TX, and Summer Lashley and husband Ronnie of Sherman; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
