Julius Ray McCord. age 82 passed away on Sunday March 25 2012 in Sherman Texas. Graveside services will be held at The Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert Oklahoma at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday March 29 2012. Pastor Quinton Gage of Coleman Avenue Church of Christ Colbert OK will officiate. Family visitation was held on Wednesday March 28 2012 7:00 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman TX. Ray was born to parents Julius and Beuna Reeves McCord in Sherman on December 27 1929. He was a 1948 graduate of Sherman High School. After finishing high school he joined the Army National Guard and served for two years and during this time he met his wife of 62 years Bonnie Ruth Hogue of Colbert OK. They wed in September of 1949 and started their family in Sherman. Ray worked at Anderson Clayton in Sherman when he was transferred to Jacksonville Illinois. They spent 18 years in Illinois before returning home to Sherman in 1971. Ray worked for Anderson Clayton for 29 years before going to Oscar Mayer where he worked for 17 more years before retiring. When not working Ray enjoyed bowling camping fishing boating and gardening. He was also an avid football basketball and baseball fan and loved to catch the games from his front row recliner. Ray is survived by his wife Bonnie of Sherman, brother Kenneth McCord and wife Margaret of Sherman, sons Dennis McCord and wife Kathy of Carbondale IL Larry McCord of Trappe MD and Paul McCord and wife Debra of Sherman, grandsons Brent McCord of Trappe MD and Benjamin McCord of Sherman, granddaughters Erin McCord of Denison TX Michelle McCord of Potts boro TX and Megan McCord of Steamboat Springs CO and six great-grandchildren.
