Obituary For Kathleen Johnson

Kathleen (Kat) Johnson, 72, of Denison, TX passed away Thursday September 9, surrounded by her husband and 3 daughters. Visitation will be held at Sherman Bible Church at 10:00 am Monday September 13, 2021. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 14, at 10:00 am at Strong Cemetery in Huxley, TX.

Kat was born June 14, 1949, to Geneva (Genny) & Phil Wiedemann in Beaumont, TX. She grew up in Corsicana and graduated from Kimball High School in Oak Cliff. On a blind date in August of 1969 she met and then married William (Gene) Johnson, the love of her life. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 51 years. Together they shared a passion for travel, boating, gardening and spending time with family and friends. They had three daughters whom she cherished and had a unique relationship and friendship with. They often referred to themselves as lucky that God chose Kat as their mother.

Kat was affectionately known as "Dadaw" by her seven grandchildren. She always had them laughing with her witty personality and lively stories. Anyone who met Kat would agree that she was like a breath of fresh air that made everyone feel special. Kat’s faith was unwavering in that regardless of the situation, she could find comfort in the Lord. The family rests in the peace that the Lord provides and knows that we will be reunited with her again.

Kat was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Johnson and her parents, Phil & Genny Wiedemann. She is survived by her dear husband, Gene Johnson; daughters Julie Muirhead and husband Matt, Jodie Nunnenkamp and husband Mike, Jena Johnson-Weldon and husband Ernie; grandchildren Tyler Nunnenkamp, Brycen Muirhead, Rachel Nunnenkamp, Coleman Muirhead, Laney Muirhead, Faith Nunnenkamp and William Johnson; sister Beverly Blake and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ken Bachey, Eddie Ross, Jack Hollingsworth, Phillip Scarbrough, Tyler Nunnenkamp, Brycen Muirhead and Coleman Muirhead.

In lieu of flowers memorials can made at Sherman Bible Church, Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, Shelbyville, TX and Lydia Missionary Baptist Church, Shelbyville, TX. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. A. Baker and all the wonderful Texoma Medical Center nurses who took care of Kat the last couple of weeks.

I will always love and cherish our boat house memories of our precious KAT from her christening our Carver to nicknaming our precious son DREW-MIESTER to conspiring with Dave and Gene to trick me into thinking Drew has rolled over for the first time while I was down in the boat not watching!!!! She was so very saddened when we lost our precious Drew and I will always cherish her cards and memories and "boat house rules" that she continually groomed me on! I can't wait to spend eternity with you sweet KAT and I'll love you forever!!♥️♥️♥️
