Obituary For Kenneth Bailey
Send Flowers Major Kenneth E. Bailey (ret), 99, long time Sherman businessman and resident passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Mr. Bailey was born the son of Olive Alice Littrell Bailey and Andrew Jackson Smith Bailey on February 21, 1917 in Ames, IA. He was a graduate of Old Castle on the Hill High School. For 21 years he proudly served in the USAAF. He was member of the 1943 Class at Randolph Aviation School and served as a Bomber Pilot on the B24 Liberator during WWII flying missions out of North Africa over Eastern Europe and earned the rank of Major during his service in the military. On January 26, 1947, he married Frances Jeanette Wilson at the Travis Street Methodist Church of Sherman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sherman, Texas. After his retirement from the military, he began a career in banking and was employed for 18 years with M & P National Bank in Sherman and continued working for an additional 2 years with American Bank in the Sherman area. He was a Life member of the Sherman Noon Lions Club, a 60 year Member of the Travis Masonic Lodge #117, a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite, Past Master of Andrew Randell Lodge and a Life member of Hella Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bess Bailey and father-in-law Fred Wilson and mother-in-law Hettie Lee (Brookshear) Wilson. Surviving Mr. Bailey are his wife Frances; sons Paul Bailey, Gene Bailey and wife Barbara; Grandchildren Jerry Bob Hayes, Jr. & wife Heather Rene, James Bradley Hayes and wife Crystal Lee, Kimberly Gayle Hardy and fiancé Michael Lecco, and Devon Pierce and husband Ryan; and 11 Great Grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, Sherman, Texas officiated by Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby and assisted by Rev. Tom Flick. Interment will be immediately following at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas where Military honors will be accorded at the graveside. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dannel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Military Honor Guard from Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas and Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Travis Masonic Lodge #117. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 401 N. Elm, Sherman, Texas 75090
