Obituary For Kenneth Leon Cope
Kenneth Leon Cope, 95, of Sherman went to be with His Lord and Savior on September 22, 2022. He was born in Brownsfield, Texas on October 13, 1926. Kenneth graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1944 and joined the army soon after in 1945. He served from 1945-1947 at the end of WWII. He never felt he deserved recognition as a veteran because of his short term of service. Kenneth married Nova Jean Hillis on June 1, 1951 in Gainesville, Texas where they lived before moving to Sherman in 1955. Kenneth worked for Line Material for 24 years and Oscar Mayer for 16 years as a mechanic before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He had a love for the game of golf and after his retirement, you could find him playing just about every day at Perrin Golf Course.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nova Jean, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by daughters, Sherrye Rodgers, husband Donald of Luella, Pam Cooney, husband Greg of Richardson, son, Bradly Cope of Phoenix Arizona, seven grandchildren, Monica Ferman Waters, Valerie Ferman, Erin Ferman, Kenley Cooney Larkin, Katy Cooney and Charlie Cooney, eight great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A private burial will be held at New Hope Cemetery in Mountain Springs, Texas.
